Heading Down Under

I love adventures.  I love to see and experience the world first-hand.  I love to take photographs and document, though my lens, my viewpoint and thereby capture the transcendent moments I enjoy when I travel to faraway places. I am the Luckiest Guy in the World!

My next big trip is to Australia and I can’t wait.  There are three primary reasons why I am eager for this journey:

  1.  When I step off the plane in Australia I will be able to say I have visited all 7 continents.  This has been a dream of mine – a goal on my bucket list – and more importantly, visiting all the continents has fulfilled me greatly.
  2.  Australia is a new place to me – it is a land of wonder.  I want to see wombats, the duck-billed platypus and the rare and beautiful topography that makes Australia unique.
  3.  I’m going to meet many new people. Meeting and knowing new people is very special.  Beyond the adventure of travel I absolutely revel in knowing people with similar interests, and people who, long after I’ve unpacked from the trip, I recall vividly just because they were so incredibly interesting.

When people often ask me, “Ray, where’s the next big trip,” I often wonder why they live vicariously through me.  Why not plan your next big moment, your next big journey.  What are you waiting for?  What are your hopes and dreams?  Do you feel fulfilled by your day-to-day patterns of daily life?  And what are you doing to achieve your dreams?

The Luckiest Guy in the World doesn’t wait.  The Luckiest Guy in the World goes into each day with a plan and with purpose and a sense of “there’s no time to waste” as there is so much to see and do.  Won’t you join me in thinking about how you, too, might become The Luckiest Guy/Gal in the World?  Your best moments are awaiting your attention!  I’m headed to Australia and when I return I plan to share my photos and philosophical insights with you.

World travel takes me everywhere.  I’ve toured the great cities.  I’ve adventured across savannahs.  I’ve sailed to Antarctica on a National Geographic Research vessel.  Everywhere I go I pursue my interests.  From my vantage point it is easy to see the perfect intersection that forms between meeting new people, understanding their “journeys” through life and pursuing my own.  Often I capture what I see through a camera lens as I am avid photographer on top of everything else.  What have I learned from all this going around and observing and experiencing?  I’ve learned that we largely make our own luck in life.  When we pursue our interests, our passions really come into sharper focus.  I am The Luckiest Guy In The World because I acknowledge my hopes and dreams and do not file them away to be considered at some later date.  I don’t wait.  I don’t procrastinate (at least not much).  I use what ever-changing insights I have about myself and the world to go toward every experience that brings me joy, satisfaction and contentment knowing that we can make our own luck in life.  Join me on the journey and share how you make your luck.
